When did you start playing golf?
I started playing golf as a full member just before I turned 9. I joined the Manukorihi golf club with my dad.
I am also a member at Ngamotu, but I actually played my 1st ever round of golf just before my 3rd birthday at Waitara where I shot 157, off the yellow tees
What is your biggest achievement?
My biggest achievement to date is hard to pick , but I’m gonna say winning the Taranaki Intermediate Strokeplay champs at Stratford as an 11yr old in a full adult field. This is a competition where all the club champs from every club compete against each other.
I’ve had lots of massive achievements too along side this , like qualifying for the World Jnrs in California last year, youngest ever to be selected for a Taranaki interprovincial team, there’s lots.
What do you do for fun?
Well my fun is my golf , thats how much I love this game.
When I need to be serious about it, its all business, but I also know how to have fun with it but still staying on point.
I play around with lots of chipping, and putting games at home, its great fun.
Playing and achieving goals on the course like flushing the ball, knocking it next to the hole is also great fun.
Who are your role models?
My number one role model is my dad, he is amazing. He has always made sure I get the best possible opportunities to be the best I can.
He keeps me focused both on and off the course , I love it when he’s on my bag. Then there is Mr Mcilroy, yes Rory. I think he is just great he launchers the ball into outer space. I would love to be on the tee with him one day
What is one piece of advice you would give to someone wanting to start playing golf?
Make sure you can have fun , as it is a-lot of hard work depending on where you want to take it, stay committed, listen to those that want to have input, strong grip, keep the head down, hold the finish.
If you won 1 million dollars, what would you spend it on?
I would buy me a mean as car , and donate some money back to my local golf clubs.
