Pelvic Health Physiotherapy

Empowering Women. Supporting Recovery. Restoring Confidence.

Introduction

If you’ve ever thought “Is this normal?” when it comes to bladder leaks, pelvic discomfort, or

post-baby body changes – the answer is: no, it’s not just something to put up with. And yes,

physiotherapy can help.

At New Plymouth Physiotherapy, we’re proud to offer a dedicated Pelvic Health service – delivered

by Sante Beasant, a UK-trained physiotherapist with over 10 years of experience and a special

interest in women’s health and paediatrics.

What is Pelvic Health Physiotherapy?

Pelvic health physiotherapy is specialised care that focuses on the muscles, joints, and connective

tissues of the pelvis. These structures play a vital role in bladder and bowel control, sexual function,

childbirth recovery, and core stability.

Common Conditions We Treat

– Bladder leakage (e.g. when you laugh, sneeze, or run)

– Pelvic organ prolapse

– Pregnancy-related pelvic pain or back pain

– Postnatal recovery (C-section or vaginal birth)

– Pain with sex

– Diastasis recti (abdominal separation)

– Constipation or bowel issues

– Paediatric pelvic issues (e.g. bedwetting or constipation)

How Can Physiotherapy Help?

Sante uses a combination of hands-on treatment, tailored exercises, and education to:

– Rebuild pelvic floor strength

– Improve core control and breathing patterns

– Reduce pain and discomfort

– Restore confidence in your body

– Help you return to the activities and lifestyle you love
